The Avanti Woman’s Run for Hope, Raises Over $5,700 for Downtown Women's Center!

On February 13th, the Downtown Women's Center (DWC) was filled with joy and gratitude as Nairy Ghazourian, founder of The Avanti Woman (TAW), and associates presented a check for a phenomenal $5,712.

This amazing donation came from their annual Christmas Kindness 5k walk/run challenge, an event fueled by their passion for empowering women.

But the generosity didn't stop there. Ms. Ghazourian, along with Warren Davis, DWC's Corporate & Community Relations Manager, embarked on a heartwarming tour of the facility.

Witnessing firsthand the transformative work of DWC, TAW associates learned how Jill Halverson, the center's founder, brought her vision to life: a holistic sanctuary dedicated to ending homelessness for women in Los Angeles.

Miss Davis shared the inspiring stories of countless women who have found renewed hope within DWC's walls. From the welcoming Day Center offering meals, showers, and vital resources, to the empowering programs that equip women with job skills and life-changing support, DWC provides a springboard for a brighter future

One such program, is the Coffee Shop, LA: RISE Program, where women gain barista training and valuable work experience at the MADE by DWC Coffee Shop. The delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as TAW associates met the dedicated trainees, witnessing their enthusiasm and determination, along with CEO Amy Turk.

Another highlight was the visit to MADE by DWC Production Studio, where women learn the art of candle-making while contributing to DWC's financial sustainability.

Witnessing the meticulous craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit ignited within these women was truly inspiring.

But perhaps the most poignant moment was the peek into the "Pink Room," where Angie Pettiford, Resident Manager proudly showed off a haven for reflection and renewal. This beautifully decorated space awaits its next resident, ready to offer solace and support as she embarks on her journey of transformation.

The Avanti Woman's incredible contribution underscores the power of community support in helping DWC fulfill its mission: to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.” We are deeply grateful for their dedication and partnership.
